Getting Started with Canvas
Canvas Mode helps you build visual workflows by connecting documents together. Whether you're creating reports, analyzing data, or building presentations, the visual canvas shows how your work connects and flows together.
Creating Your First Document
Getting started is simple: right-click anywhere on the empty canvas to open the creation menu. On mobile devices, use a 2-finger tap to access this menu.
Choose Your Document Type
You'll see three document types, each with a distinct color that helps you organize your work visually:
Text Document
Perfect for reports, notes, articles, and written content. Uses a rich text editor similar to Word or Google Docs.
Spreadsheet
For data analysis, calculations, and formulas. Works like Excel or Google Sheets with full formula support.
Slides
Create presentations with visual elements. Similar to PowerPoint or Google Slides for building slide decks.
What You'll See on Each Node
Each document appears as a "node" on your canvas - a visual card that shows important information about your document. Nodes help you see your entire workflow at a glance and understand how different pieces of content connect together.
- Sequential Number - Each node gets a number (1, 2, 3...) showing its position in your workflow
- Colored Header - Blue for text, green for spreadsheets, yellow/orange for slides
- Document Name - Click the pen icon to rename your document
- Live Statistics - See word count, row count, or slide count updated in real-time
- Connection Points - Handles on the sides for connecting to other documents
Building Your Workflow
Once you have your first document, adding more is straightforward. Canvas Mode automatically organizes your documents in a logical flow, showing how they connect and relate to each other.
Two Ways to Add Documents
Right-click the canvas to create additional documents anywhere. They'll automatically be numbered in sequence (Node 2, Node 3, etc.).
Click the + button on any existing node to create a connected document. This creates a visual branch showing the relationship between documents.
Automatic Flow
Documents automatically connect in sequence (1→2→3) showing the logical flow of your work. These connections help you understand how different pieces of content relate to each other, creating a visual story of your project.
